No I didn't

I have not yet experienced that

I have had to refer a student for evaluation. When I took my concerns to the parents and explained my observations and what I believed to be the issue, the parents were not receptive to my concerns and felt there was no delay or impairment with their child.

Yes, I talked with the director fist, she evaluated and thought there may also be a delay. We then had a meeting with the parent. The parent did not think the child had a delay and did not get help at the time.

I have not had to refer any of the children.

I had to refer a child when they were 3, at first his mother was very upset with me. After getting her child evaluated and the help they needed, she came and thanked me for the help, and apalogized for the immediate respones of anger. I believe it's very imporatante to have open communication with parents about reasonable concerns.

I agree. Communication is key. If we communicate constantly with parents, if we have a concern they will be more willing to listen to us.

yes we have, for speech, behavior, and other delays. Some parents agreed and obtained services. We have therapist come to the center. We are still working on some of them, parents that is.

No, I didn't.

There is a 2 year-old boy who has articulation problems, we talked to mom about his speech and she took him to a specialist.

Teaching infants, so no delays recognized in any of my children.

I have never had to refer a child for hearing impartment or any other issue.

I don't currently have a classroom, nor have I had to refer anyone in my previous experience for a language delay.

I have not either.

I have done this before. being in the position i am in, i have to observe childrens development to make sure that i can be able to give these children a positive and educational learning enviornment. this child was doing things that was affecting their learning like throwing hitting and screaming.

I have referred my own son because of speech delay.

That was the best thing you could have ever done for your son.

I have not needed to

I have never refereed any children for special services, I have one child who is in 2 different speech classes.

No I have not. Though there are three children in my class who have speech therapists.

I have not yet had a child that needed a referral.

I have not needed to

I have not had to refer a child for a referral yet because I do not have my own classroom yet.

I have had a few concerns over the years. I have talked to the parent suggesting they refer to their doctor, about my concerns and it has went well with a little bit of help from specialist

I have not had to refer a child yet.

i have not yet had a child that needed a referral.

I didn't experience yet refer a mother to a specialist for the child's need, but i have a friend that did it, and the mother was offended. They are both my friend, is why I know what had happen. I got two children in my classroom that are very possible in need of help but I have to get more concrete evidence before i will do an action.

I have yet to have a child who needed a referral.

Being in the special education field I have referred several children for an initial evaluation including my own children. However, with my experience it is very difficult for children to qualify for services under IDEA under speech alone. The majority of the time I see children qualify under Developmental Delays, and they are able to get their speech services that way. In some cases it is easier for families to utilize their private medical insurance, and get speech therapy that way. It is easier to qualify for speech therapy privately than under IDEA.

I get scared to do them; some parents get mad. I’ve only done a couple but they turned out great.
