Cultural competence is the ability to interact effectively with people of different cultures to ensure that the needs of all community members are addressed. After this course you will be able to: Define and contrast cultural competence and cultural humility; Define health equity and state factors associated with current health disparities; Define the CLAS acronym and state its importance to providing culturally and linguistically appropriate healthcare; Discuss the RESPECT model for interacting with patients; Articulate four principles of mindfulness that can help clinicians improve communication with their patients.
