Description

Introduction to Aging with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (CME Collection)
Adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) have the potential for healthy aging and a good quality of life in later years. However, there are many health care challenges related to aging adults with IDD. This course will teach you about the aging process and factors of aging to help you understand how prevention activities across the lifespan can minimize risk factors and promote healthy aging. You will learn about specific syndromes and aging including Down syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, and Epilepsy. Effects, prevention techniques, and possible interactions of the pre-existing disability with the factors of aging will be discussed. Overall, you will develop an understanding about the importance of health care across the lifespan for adults with IDD.
