Assaults on first responders are on the rise. As local tragic incidents have shown, Firefighters are not immune to violence. In an effort to increase Firefighter health and safety, the Rochester Fire Department is issuing the Combat Application Tourniquet (CAT) to all line personnel, primarily for self-aid and buddy-aid purposes. This course is the cognitive component of the training and is intended to precede hands-on training. This course is worth 0.5 hours of CE, with the hands-on component worth an additional 0.5 hours. These two training events satisfy the 1 hour of 'Non-Mandatory Additional CE' for EMT CME recertification.
