Any dwelling unit may have a health hazard, and many existing ones do. With a growing body of evidence that links many health risks with existing housing conditions, this course will introduce you to basic information on the link between housing and health, an overview of the house as a system, the basic principles of healthy housing, and other hazards that may be lurking unbeknownst to you in the homes. In addition, the course will discuss the benefits of a holistic approach as well as provide some standard practices and techniques you can incorporate into your program to reduce or prevent hazards for renters or homeowners. By creating healthier housing we promote the growth and development of our children, provide a better indoor environment for all and potentially reduce health visits and reduce associated health care costs.
