In order for children to learn, they must have a well-maintained, safe, and healthy physical environment in which to play, run, eat, sleep, and discover the world around them. Your goals in designing and maintaining a safe environment include both your indoor and outdoor spaces. In this module, we’ll explore how to create a safe physical premises based on local licensing standards and the Florida Statutes.
Outcomes:
- Identify and implement building safety standards
- Follow existing guidelines to ensure safe food preparation
- Know your responsibilities relating to providing accommodations for children with special needs
- Understand how to implement fire prevention procedures and keep children safe in the event of a fire
- Implement procedures to prevent children’s exposure to hazardous materials
