Description

Before you can serve or sell alcohol in Louisiana, you need to earn your server permit, also called a bar card. To do this, you must first complete a Responsible Vendor training course and pass an exam.  

Our Responsible Vendor course is approved in Louisiana and ensures you can easily meet the requirements for selling and serving alcohol.  

Once you complete the course and pass the final exam with a score of at least 70%, we will report your training to the Louisiana Alcohol and Tobacco Control. Then, your official bar card will be available for you to print from their website within 4-7 days.

FAQs

Do you provide my official Responsible Server Permit?
While the Louisiana ATC requires that you complete alcohol training to earn your permit, we do not provide the actual bard card. You must visit the ATC’s website to print your official bar card, as they will no longer mail it to you.

How do you get a bar card in Louisiana?

  1. Take an RV Class: Enroll in an authorized provider Louisiana Responsible Vendor training course. These courses can be taken online or in person and cover subjects like checking ID’s, dealing with intoxication, and understanding alcohol-related laws in Louisiana.
  2. Pass the Exam: At the end of the RV course, you will need to pass an exam with a score of at least 70%. We will provide you with a certification of completion.
  3. Obtain Your Bar Card: After passing the exam, we will report your training to the Louisiana Alcohol and Tobacco Control. Then, your official bar card will be available for you to print from their website within 4–7 days.

Yes, you can obtain a Louisiana bar card online by completing an approved Louisiana responsible vendor permit online course. Many providers, like Learn2Serve, offer a Louisiana responsible vendor online course, recognized by the Louisiana Office of Alcohol and Tobacco Control (ATC). Your official bar card will then be available for you to print from the Louisiana ATC website.

How often do you need to refresh responsible vendor training?
In Louisiana, Responsible Vendor server permits must be refreshed every 4 years. After 4 years, individuals working in establishments that serve alcohol will need to retake the RV course and pass the exam to refresh their certification.
