Description

Before learning to read and write, children need to develop a variety of important foundational skills. These emergent literacy skills develop over time and are important in a child’s journey to becoming a successful reader and writer. In this course, you will learn developmentally appropriate ways to promote and enhance the development of children’s emergent literacy skills. This course is designed to be part of a Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential™ curriculum. It covers CDA Subject Area 2: Steps to Advance Children's Physical and Intellectual Development, and will fulfill 2 hours of the 120 hours of formal early childhood education training required before you may sit for the CDA exam. This course can also be taken as a stand-alone learning event, or as part of a broader early childhood education curriculum.
