Health, Safety, and Nutrition is designed to provide early educators with the skills needed to promote the health and well-being of children in their care. Early educators must be knowledgeable about health, safety, and nutrition in order to provide quality care for children because a safe and nurturing environment is critical for children's physical, intellectual, social, and emotional development. The goal of Lesson 7: Food Safety is to help early childhood educators understand the dangers of foodborne illness and procedures for handling food safely.
