Description

SkillBuild’s Engagement Exchange is a collaborative learning space designed for youth development professionals who want to strengthen engagement, sharpen facilitation skills, and connect with peers doing the work in real time. This series blends practical strategies, peer discussion, and reflection to help staff build more responsive, youth-centered programming that keeps young people connected from start to finish.

Why join? Because engagement starts in the first few minutes. In this interactive session, participants will explore how to create strong openings, set the tone early, and capture youth attention within the first 15 minutes of programming. Through real conversations, shared challenges, and hands-on strategy building, participants will walk away with practical tools they can immediately apply in classrooms, enrichment spaces, and youth programs.

What to expect: Each session is designed to be interactive, conversational, and grounded in the realities of youth work. Participants will engage in peer learning, reflect on current practices, and leave with actionable strategies to strengthen participation, energy, and connection with youth.

Session 2: When Engagement Drops: Recognizing Disengagement & Refocusing in Real Time

Tuesday, July 28, 2026 | Virtual Session

Implementation Lab: Tuesday, August 11, 2026

The Implementation Lab is a companion session designed to extend your learning beyond the Peer Learning Community. Held approximately two weeks after each session, it gives participants a chance to reflect on what they tried, troubleshoot challenges, and receive real-time support and feedback from peers and facilitators.

This is part of a larger summer engagement series running June through September.
