Description

TBRI® In Depth: Nurture Group Coaching

Nurture Groups are one of the most important practices of Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI®), with the goal of teaching relational and regulation skills through play. They foster and develop four essential skills of meaningful relationships and secure attachment behaviors, including a child’s or teen’s ability to give care, to seek and receive care, to negotiate their needs with respect, and to know their autonomous self. They also provide a wonderful opportunity to build relationships between children and caregivers of all kinds. In this webinar, we will facilitate in-depth experiential learning on the process of Nurture Groups, as well as provide a space for planning and implementation of these strategies in a variety of settings, whether at home, in a classroom, in a therapy session, or a community center. We will also consider how we might use the components of Nurture Groups throughout our days to build connections and skills.

Prerequisite: Must have previously attended a 2, 4, 8, or 18-hour TBRI® Training by Hope Street. This training builds on previous presentations, and background knowledge is required.

Objectives:

  • Promote deeper understanding of TBRI® principles and interventions as trauma-informed care;
  • Identify and understand the 4 skills of meaningful relationships and secure attachment behaviors through experiential learning and coaching;
  • Develop strategies to effectively integrate Nurture Groups within diverse settings;
  • Troubleshoot potential barriers or challenges in facilitating Nurture Groups;
  • Formulate unique and concrete implementation plans for each participant to utilize within their particular setting.
