Empowering & Correcting - Level 3

TBRI® is a healing centered model of care that explores:

• the impact of trauma on the developing brain,
• how Positive Childhood Experiences help children heal, and
• techniques to build cooperation and trust in consistent, warm, responsive relationships.

TBRI® Principles:

• Connecting Principles: Create connections that disarm fear, gain trust, and enhance learning.
• Empowering Principles: Strengthen learning and regulation by meeting a child’s physical and environmental needs.
• Correcting Principles: Shape beliefs and behaviors effectively, so children feel safe, protected, and empowered.

Facilitated by Hope & Healing JAX TBRI® Practitioners trained by developers at Karyn Purvis Institute for Child Development (KPICD), TBRI® is a care model designed to empower adults to meet relational and developmental needs of children impacted by trauma. As KPICD Designated Florida partner and Jacksonville’s Single Service TBRI® Provider, the connection between Hope & Healing JAX and KPICD @ TCU situates H&HJAX as the sole agency in Jacksonville who may train outside our organization. Developed by Drs. Karyn Purvis and David Cross at KPICD at Texas Christian University.

Trust Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI®) 

GOALS 

Participants will:

1. Understand attachment, the impact of trauma on the developing brain, and the TBRI® path to healing.
2. Explore how adult attachment helps children heal through relationship and regulation strategies.
3. Learn techniques to build cooperation and trust in caring and responsive relationships.

The Empowering & Correcting Principles - Level 3

OBJECTIVES

Participants will:

1. Learn proactive strategies to empower children with internal and external regulation tools.
2. Identify goals of behavior & proactive strategies for correcting behaviors.
3. Explore responsive strategies for correcting behaviors, including IDEAL© Response & Levels of Response™.

CERTIFICATE

The full course offers up to .6 CEUs with each session offering .2 CEUs.

To receive credits, participants must complete evaluation. A score of 70% or higher is required.
